  4. Breaking News! Edinburgh to host competition in January!!

    EUBDS will be hosting our first ever DanceSport competition right here in Edinburgh January 28th, 2012! 

    We’re very excited to bring the InterVarsity circuit to Scotland and hope many of you EUBDS members will join us on the 28th.

    A programme of the order of events and approximate timing will be posted after Christmas!

  5. Tickets now on sale for The Winter Ball!

    Our Winter Ball is fast approaching! It will be held on Nov 18th, at the Teviot Debating Hall from 8:30 PM.

    The theme is Masquerade, so be sure to have a killer mask to match your semi-formal attire. Food, drinks, dancing (but of course), and music provided by the EU Jazz Band—it’s going to be an awesome night!

    Tickets are £4 for members and £5 for non-members. Feel free to bring your friends/flatmates/Auntie Jane.

    Get your tickets from Kate at class this Tuesday or next Sunday’s practice!

  7. Updates from Kate R!

    Hey everyone, a couple of updates on some exciting extra-curricular Ballroom activities from our president, Kate Regan!

    I. Fitness and Flexibility

    Ballroom dancing isn’t quite as easy as it looks, and those of you who’ve been dancing for a while will know that fitness and flexibility is a very important part of that perfect performance on comp day!

    With that in mind, we’ve decided to run a weekly class focusing on improving stamina and strength through dance fitness and stretching. The class will be led each week alternately by Kate (President) and Fran (Team Captain), who will be putting you all through your paces before offbeat classes.

    Classes will be held each week in the Chaplaincy from 7-7:45, free for EUBDS members and £1 for non-members. See you there!

    II. Volunteering

    Over the last few months EUBDS members have been working hard in the community to establish links with many organizations. Over the coming term we are hoping to continue this work by running workshops at a local primary school and the Canongate youth project, as well as doing a demonstration at a nursing home.

    Anyone who is interested in getting involved in community projects should contact Kate (President) and keep an eye out in the weekly email for any upcoming opportunities.

    As a side bar, Social Sec Kate Booth has planned a fantastic pub crawl after class this Tuesday 27.9.11. Details to come and we hope we’ll see you all there!

  8. Scenes from yesterday’s Taster Session, where Chris taught the basics of tango, waltz, and cha cha! The committee had a great time dancing with the new people & we are def looking forward to seeing familiar faces at tomorrow’s demo (Teviot Debating Hall, 2 - 3 PM) and in class next week!!!
